I have just changed my family genealogy tree from PAF to genopro, and I couldn't change back to any other genealogy software now. I must admit that I am very impressed with all the possibilities (especially with the 2.xx beta version).

I visited the wish list and I came across a suggestion of a port of genopro to Pocket PC. The answer was quite laconic. So I insist one more time, it would be so nice to travel with the PDA in your pocket: once back home you would just need to synchronize the data with your PC.

:P Many many congratulations for all the work done so far !

I beleive, if you have an easy solution of translating routines from windows to  PDA platform, Dan would be glad to use it!

BTW, AFAIK those platforms (primary platforms for use on mobile devices) are changing rapidly so the main was java until recently, nowdays it mobile win, symbian... To many changing too fast..

And programing itself is pretty time consuming job, so... we'll just have to wait!

Hi All!

There  a half of year pass from my proposition about PocketPC version. And as I see, the task is undone for today. And as I understend, it is still a recoding question as always. So, I can try to recode GenoPro, or try to write interpretator of .gno file, if you will send me the struckture of it.

We had discussions about a PocketPC version of GenoPro in the future (year 2007 or 2008).  Our strategy is to use the XML file format and have a text-based interface to enter basic fields such as name, date of birth, death, etc.

If you want to write your own PocketPC, you should use the XML too.  The .gno file format is quite complex.
