I entered dummy comments (notes), everywhere I could, concerning my parents, their union, my 2 bros and myself. I also added a dummy family picture. I then saved my tree, generated a report and viewed it from my HD. Here are my findings regarding some bugs and suggestions associated with the said comments/notes:

1) when viewing an individual (my father):

- Only the “Family Picture Notes” doesn’t show. I am in agreement with Beraha’s topic No. 10940 (notes on family pictures) because I think this note should also be shown.

- I think my father’s “Individual Picture Notes” should not be where it is now (within the text) but under his own picture. Relocating the notes will be consistent with his wife (my mother) picture notes location (and hopefully with the future family notes location).

- Bug report:

- with all notes closed, when I click on his wife’s (my mother) picture notes blue +flag, my 1st brother Birth notes open instead (horizontal coincidence?). When clicking again on her +flag, my Bros Birth notes close.

- with all notes open/shown, there is no response when I click again on her picture notes -flag.

2) when viewing my family page:

            - Bug report:

- with all notes closed, when I click on the Family picture notes +flag, my mother’s Birth notes open instead!. When clicking again on the Family picture notes +flag, my mother’s Birth notes close.

- with all notes open/shown,  there is no response when I click on the Family picture notes –flag.

3) general comments:

            - cursor shape change:

- why when hovering above a Notes text, the cursor changes to I ?

- why when hovering above a blue flag, the cursor shape doesn’t change ?

To be consistent with, for example, “Show/Hide All Notes”, I think the cursor shape should change to a “hand” in both cases.

Thank you.

See the attached file:

Can I, with respect, suggest that you post your comments directly in the forum. It is annoying to have to open up the document in Word, and there is always the danger of a virus being inadvertantly introduced (although I am sure that the file has been virus checked before posting).

I concur,

at least you can do it as my father does, copy - paste from Word in post/forum etc.

Hi,

OK guys. I modified my initial topic. If you prefer that way, I'll do that next time.

Whilst I don't consider myself an HTML & VBScript specialist, merely a hobbyist, I'll attempt to resolve or explain these issues.

An easy one to fix is point 3) cursor shape. I have just discovered how to modify the cursor so the attached replacement Report Generator template file, style.css will change the cursor to a hand (or in HTML terms a pointer). I've also changed it to a pointer when hovering over a photo, to tell the reader it too can be clicked on. There is a bug in MS Internet Explorer (one of many!) such that the 'blue flags' over to the right cannot be clicked on, nor does the cursor change. I can only recommend once again use of a standards compliant browser, such as Mozilla Firefox.

As you are aware, points in 1) have been dealt with in Beraha's topic http://support.genopro.com/Topic10940-60-1.aspx.

As regards the 'bug reports' in 1) & 2) could you please try the same in Mozilla Firefox as I think they may be IE 'quirks'

Updated 29/05/2006 attachment changed so that only photos and not other images such as gender symbols have the cursor changed to a pointer.

Ron,

I installed Firefox and didn't notice the "Bug Report" problem. I, however, noticed a new problem as per my topic http://support.genopro.com/FindPost11241.aspx.

I also downloaded and installed IE7 Beta 2 from MS. As the bug report problem didn't show up, I suppose MS must have fixed it. The subject note open and close OK.

Thanks Ron.
