I have just tried to add a Legend away from the display and the first time I tried this it appeared not to work, as the Legend was added off the display. It is possible that I was outside the Print area at the time.
I have now repeated this, making sure that I was outside the print area and this seems to be the cause. Defining a new Legend expands the Print area and it is placed at the edge of the new area but initially the view is within the old print area, so the Legend appears not to be created.

| I can confirm appleshaw's finding, although it is not consistent, even when attempting to add a legend in the same place (way off from the centre of the tree). Sometimes the legend can be added in the normal way - i.e. the legend appears beneath the cursor to be placed in position - at other times the legend is placed off-screen.

I have experienced this behavior too - however I have been unable to pinpoint the problem. If someone knows the exact step-by-step sequence to reproduce this bug, I will be very grateful.

| I was trying to determine exactly how to recreate the problem, and following on from appleshaw's post, I went into the Page Setup dialogue. To determine what effect the 'Preview Print Area' box has: I unclicked it, and pressed the 'OK' button. Nothing appeared any different either on-screen or in Print Preview, so I returned to the dialogue, only to find that the box was once again clicked Does this box do anything?

| Unchecking the checkbox Preview Print Area should display the family tree without the special color and dotted lines designating the page breaks. You can also remove the print area from the View menu.

GenoProSupport (5/31/2006) Unchecking the checkbox Preview Print Area should display the family tree without the special color and dotted lines designating the page breaks. You can also remove the print area from the View menu. The print area designation switches on and off using the view menu, but the Preview Print Area only switches the print area designation off - it does not switch it on (even though the box is always checked - as I said previously, it will not stay unchecked). I am using 2b15h.

Howard53 (6/6/2006) The problem is still there in 2b16.Do you have a step-by-step case to reproduce the bug. If I can reproduce the bug, I can fix it. On my machine, when I insert a new legend, GenoPro inserts it under the mouse cursor. I have seen once or twice the legend appear off-screen but has been unable to reproduce this scenario.
