| [Conversation splitted from: Location of Legend off screen] The problem I was specifically referring to relates to the Preview Print Area checkbox under Page Setup... This box is always checked even if it has been unchecked earlier. It will turn off the preview print area if it has been set under the View menu, but will not switch it on again.

This is strange. I can turn off the print preview area from both the View menu or from the Page Setup dialog. What happens when you click on the menu item Print Area from the View menu?

This is strange. I can turn off the print preview area from both the View menu or from the Page Setup dialog. What happens when you click on the menu item Print Area from the View menu?The item in the View menu works as it should. Have you tried: - to turn on the print preview from the Page Setup dialogue?
- returning to the Page Setup dialogue after turning off the print preview? Is the checkbox now checked even though the print preview is off?

This is a feature; it is by design. Every time you bring the Page Setup dialog, the Preview Print Area checkbox is always checked. You can uncheck this option before clicking on the OK button, or turn it off later from the View menu. I don't want to prolong this topic, but I find it most confusing . As I said in an earlier post in this topic - if the check box is checked, I would expect the Print Area to show, but it doesn't - unless it was previously turned on from the View menu.
