| This is my first posting but have been using GenoPro for 4 years. Just downloaded latest beta (great!) but cannot understand the reason in placing fields Home Phone, Work Phone and Email into such a prominent spot. As with most, about 98% of individuals on my tree are dead so 98% of the time these fields are blank! Can you please enlighten my ignorance.

| I use the Family Tree as a 'Contact medium'. We email Live members telling them of this month's anniversaries, what happened in this month years ago. Members send in details of Births and marriages so that they are properly recorded. A Family Tree can be full of life, as well as properly recording the past branches. I encourage you to do likewise. It's a great tool for making the Family closer.

No doubt this information can be used for that type of work... and nothing in the previous poster's post indicates that he doesn't use his tree for that purpose.
I think his main question is... since the overwhelmingly vast majority of members of the family tree do not have any of this information, why is it copied to the first tab? For the relatively extremely few individuals who have this info, keeping it on the Contact tab is more appropriate and leaves space on the first tab for more pertinent info. This is amplified in the cases were, as of yet, there's no way to pick which Contact/Job is the "primary"... which leads me to cases where my dad's old address from 17 years ago shows up on his first tab, despite the fact that there is a new address in the Contact info.

| I posted on this a while back in another topic, and I have found the problem. The problem is, GenoPro takes the "most recent" address, e-mail, phone, employer, etc., when I suggested having it be the user's option what goes in there, without changing the most recent contac or occupation as well.

Two problems with this still.
First, GenoPro is not taking the "most recent" address... unless by "most recent", you mean most recently added by the software user with no consideration for the actual dates the address is valid.
For example, my dad... I don't remember what order I entered that data, but there is the current contact info (start 1989, no end date) and the old contact info (start 1978, end 1989) but the main tab shows the old info (ending 1989)! Bad mojo.
Also (and I'll be posting this in the bugs section) but I cannot get rid of an erroneous email address once it shows up on the main tab for the contact info. I made the mistake of applying his email address to the old contact info (he didn't have email then) and it's on the main tab... but I cannot for the life of me remove it!

There is still some work to be done on this. For instance, GenoPro should take a look at the Termination Date or Work Termination enumeration to determine if the job is still active. Developing a user-friendly interface is done sometimes by trial-and-error.

That's what I mean by most recent, the last one added, and when I enter that a person traveled here for a week, the last telephone, is that of where he stayed, also for e-mail.
I've found that deleting it from the general tab, then clicking OK works. It deletes both records on mine.

That's not working for me. I've posted a topic in the bugs forum explaining.

Well put, that's exactly what I meant. I just feel that the first tab should contain information which is relevant to all individuals in the tree, e.g. Place of Birth. In my tree the emaill adress is appropriate for only 7 of the 352 entries.
