| Like many, my tree is too big to fit on a single GenoMap. So I put my family in a GenoMap and my wife's family (including my own childrens) on a second GenoMap. Yet, for the example, I would like to be able to select the whole descendant tree from my parents (which one should include my wife and my childrens), copy that to a new GenoMap and so I can print out this 'extracted' subtree. The problem is that the select function doesn't follow the hyperlinks through the different GenoMaps. Is there any way to do that in the current release ? If not, could we imagine adding to the programm a "Hold down CTRL + Select" to be able to follow the hyperlinks and so 'extract' a new view from our geno trees ??

This is not an easy fix, as as the current code does not follow any hyperlinks. I am considering modifying the code with the option to select all ancestors / descendants regardless of hyperlinks. Such feature would be found in the Table Layout, to select all ancestors or all descendants.

GenoProSupport (11/15/2006) This is not an easy fix, as as the current code does not follow any hyperlinks. I am considering modifying the code with the option to select all ancestors / descendants regardless of hyperlinks. Such feature would be found in the Table Layout, to select all ancestors or all descendants.I have also noticed this when I wanted to select the Direct Ancestors, copy them and paste them to a new file in order to produce personal ancestor trees for individuals in my family. This made it necessary to select each genomap and repeat the manipulation and then delete one of the so produced doubles and reconnect the other one in the place of the deleted one. I look forward to your fix as I would like to produce personal ancestor trees for many of my cousins.

IainTait (11/15/2006) I look forward to your fix as I would like to produce personal ancestor trees for many of my cousins.I realize most all the requests to select ancestors or descendants have the goal to share a portion of the family tree with relatives. Thinking "outside of the box", a better solution could bel with the Privacy Filter selecting all ancestors or descendants. The [new] Privacy Filter will be applicable to many operations, including exporting, generating reports.

Personally I would like the right click "select" menu to select all ancestors including those with hyperlinks to other genomaps. I think it might be simpler to use but I could be wrong.

IainTait (11/15/2006) Does this work now or is it a future project ?Future project. The privacy filter has to be re-done completely. This is a big task.

I hope too that it will be easy to do. Using a filter to do that just sounds complicated to me
