I would appreciate if anyone has any information on any individual with the surname Bogisich (spelt alternatively as Bogesich, Bogisic, etc.).  My family comes from Hungary, although I have found the name also in what is now Croatia and Serbia.  Currently, my family tree dates back to 1680 on this branch.  Any information would be most appreciated.

Bogišić is last name mostly used around Kvarner (Rijeka), Dalmatia and Dubrovnik Croatia, and Boka Kotorska in Montenegro. Disputably corroborated sources declare that some of Bogišić family members were from Serbia - but I seriously doubt.

I don't know if Hungarian descendence is derived from fact that some of the regions in mention were for some time under Hungarian ruling, or maybe you have exact times and places? In fact in 19-th and early 20-th century exactly these regions were source of many immigrants to Americas... and many places are deserted since...

You might try looking up on this individual.

Thank you for yor reply.  I have found a number of Bogišić living in Sombor in Vojvodina in what is now Serbia but which was once part of Hungary.  My ancestors were already in Buda in 1680 so any connection to these parts is very difficult.

I will get in touch with the individual you suggested in Croatia.
