Does GenePro have another way to show that someone is deceased? A couple people have commented that the X seems a little disrespectful. It would be nice to simply have the presence of a death date be enough to indicate that the person is dead.

If there's no way to do this, is it something you would consider adding in a subsequent revision?

You can minimise the cross by going to the Display tab on the Properties display and clicking just one of the quarter boxes for gender fill. On my PC, start with one of the down arrows next to a white 'A' on a red background, and select white.

Hope that makes sense

You can turn off the deceased cross from the Display Tab of the Individual's Properties:

Disabling the display doesn't change the fact that the individual will be still considered dead!

There is no way to change or disable any shortcuts at the moment in GenoPro.

No, this is good. The individual *should* be considered dead, I just didn't want a big black X through them on the chart.

So these X's can be turned off individually, which is good. Is there a global preferences setting for this? That would be better.

Not yet, however you can do the following:

  1. From the Table Layout (Ctrl+T), press Ctrl+A to select all individuals.
  2. Press Enter (or click on the Properties icon) to invoke the properties of the selected objects.
  3. Click on Never draw deceased cross.
