I have been trialing the GenoPro 2007 program and have been quite impressed.

I have a question about the GEDCOM export tool, accessed from the "File | Export" menu.

It doesn't seem to be supporting the MARR tag (for Marriages) in the "FAM" sections.

- Is this already there but I don't know how to turn it on?
- Is it possible to add this tag to the Export?
- r, is it possible for me to change a "skin" and modify the "File | Export to GEDCOM via the Report Generator..." menu option.

Guidance or updates would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul.

The best way to create a gedcom in GenoPro is to use the gedcom skin within the report Generator (accessed from the tools menu). The export version was designed for export of GenoPro features and is not the best way to check data conversion to other programs.

There will, of course, be error messages when you transfer to another program such as PAF. This is mainly due to the fact that the gedcom 'standard' is not fixed and there are many minor variations

It doesn't seem to be supporting the MARR tag (for Marriages) in the "FAM" sections.

Please note that the Export to Gedcom via the Report Generator does not create a MARR tag unless you have provided evidence of a marriage. I.e. either marriage details are entered (date etc.) or the Family 'Relation' is set to 'Marriage' or some other value that indicates a marriage has taken place.

And yes you can create a customized version of this skin. Just click the 'New Skin' button from the Generate Report dialogue.

Great, thanks for that explaination and tips. I'll have a closer look at the Export via the Report Generator and see where that gets me.

On first glance, it appears that the Report Generator export does infact support the MARR tag (as stated) but it doesn't in the one that doesn't use the RG, hence my initial confusion.

Cheers,
Paul.
