I have big problems with making the google maps work. Everytime I open my Genogram on my website a box comes up with a message about the Google Maps Api key is registered on another website and that that I should generate a new key. I have generated a new key - but I don' know where to put it. I tried to put in the configuration settings, but that doesn't work. As far as I can see now is that I should put the codes that I got with the new key on my genogram website. The card works locally but not on the web.
Can anyone help me??? It is pretty annoying with that box that pops up. And it's not only on my compute.

| Once you have registered with Google and obtained the API for your own site/URL, just set it in the Config Parameters and regenerate your report. The key must be for the actual URL, not for another domain name that has been redirected to it. It can be registered for the base URL for the site e.g. www.mysite.com or a directory below it in which you have stored the report www.mysite.com/GenoProReport etc. The first one will work for all directories on the site. Note that any key works for a Report accessed from a local drive. You can use any of three ways to amend the key used in the Report. 1) Create and Custom skin and edit Config.xml replacing the key held against GoogleMapsApiKey. 2) Create a Document Custom Tag in your .gno file and store it there. 3) Reply Yes to change Config Parameters prompt when you generate a Report and scroll down and replace the key there. If you post the URL for your site perhaps I can check it out further.

Dear Ron
Thank you for you help - but..........
I figured out where to put the key - I put it in the config file - I opened it as a notepad - that was the only way I could write in the file. Everything looks allright now, buy it still gives me the same message - that I need to generate a new key.
Here is the url that I made the new key for
http://www.bendixlarsen.dk/FamilyTree/default.htm

| Well you certainly have a different API key to the skin default, but I cannot validate it since it is unique to a particular Google account & URL. But you say you generated a key for http://www.bendixlarsen.dk/FamilyTree/default.htm. You should generate the API key for a folder or site, not a file i.e for http://www.bendixlarsen.dk or http://www.bendixlarsen.dk/FamilyTree. Using a key generated for http://www.bendixlarsen.dk will be valid for the whole site and is what I would recommend.

Hi Ron
Thanks again - I generated the key for www.bendixlarsen.dk and now it works. I think its a great new feature, but is it really true that you have to have that key to avoid that message to pop up? Or can I just delete it? I'm a little bit "old school" and pretty paranoid and after I read about google storing my information for years I was not too happy about it. But I will probably keep it - as I said to a friend last night - this program is better than a computergame - it is just as good to keep me up all night. And now I can use days (and nights) to put in places and longitudes etc

| Glad you've got it sorted Karen. I too have spent many hours/days with GenoPro, even excluding the script writing time! You can turn off Google Maps in your report if you don't want them. Don't bother with editing the Config.xml file unless you require a custom skin for other things. Simply change the settings in the Configuration parameter dialogue (ensure you are using the latest version of GenoPro 2007, currently 2.0.0.7). For a more permanent setting, create Document Custom Tags GoogleMaps & GoogleMapsOverview using the GenoPro Tag Editor and set them to N. See post http://support.genopro.com/FindPost15863.aspx for more info.
