This probably falls in the category of "not a bug but a feature," but I found it slightly annoying. I recently decided to catalogue all my sources. Once I had them in Genopro, I wanted to go through them and assign them where appropriate. To do that, I started adding new sources from my files, only to find that if I save without having the source assigned to someone, it gets purged from the list.
Is there a way to switch off that behaviour? I looked, but came up empty.

| Originally the sources, places, pictures, unions, occupations and education records were always kept regardless of their use. For instance, if you enter a place name, and make a typo, then the old place name would remain in the document even if no longer used. I saw documents having several thousand of those objects, obviously not wanted since they were all typos. The decision was made to automatically cleanup those "stray objects" when saving. One solution is to create a dummy individual and assign all the sources you want to keep. Perhaps the source should have an option to indicate "do not automatically delete if not used".

I would appreciate such an option, but that may be just the way I like to work, and knowing about the behaviour now, I'll make sure to always assign it to someone, possibly a dummy like you suggested. You also made a good point concerning orphaned sources, so it's probably best to keep it that way. Thanks for the quick reply, too.

I apologize for posting double, but I might have found something. I created a new source, and marked three individuals and selected "Add existing source". I selected the forementioned one, and saved - it was purged from the list again. If I check the individuals, the source is there, and once I've checked it, or checked the reference-tab in the source properties, it stays when I save the file. Is it possible that assigning a source to muptiple individuals somehow does not mark it as "in use"? Also, with a source without references, hitting enter to get to the source's properties does not work.

| I have tried to reproduce the problem without success: - I have created a source from the Table Layout and assigned it to 3 individuals using the context menu "Add Existing Source", saved the document and the source was not lost. Can you reproduce the problem with a step-by-step scenario? If we can reproduce the problem in our computer, we can fix it.

I just did the same - opened a new document; created three individuals; created a source in the source table; marked all three individuals; right-clicked, 'assign existing source'; saved the document - and at least for me, the source vanishes then. I had the source table open when I tried it, but I checked and closing it does not change the end result for me.
And again, if I open any of the marked individuals and save afterwards, the source remains untouched...
