| Is it possible to create a report in the report-generator that produces a 'kwartierstaat'? Kwartierstaat is a Dutch word for a report that starts with me (1), my parents (2 and 3), their parents (4,5 and 6,7), and so on. When I am 'n', my parents are '2n' and '2n+1'.

| Not as yet. I think what you are asking for is an ancestor report, i.e. the inverse of the existing descendants report. Hopefully it should be possible to reuse most of the code from the Descendants report to produce a new Ancestors Report. I will take a look at this when I get time, perhaps in a few months, unless someone else wants to take a stab at it  before then. You can of course export to Gedcom and import into another package, but you will not have any GenoPro 'extras'.

In my case, my tree being relatively small (the most being 6 generations + base Ind) an Ancestor report could eventually be achieved.
Thinking a bit further, for a big tree of, say, 12 generations + base Ind, it will entail the listing of 8191 individuals. This assumes that each Ind in the tree has both parents known. As the Ind count is doubling at evey generation, the tree narrative will have to cater for:Base Ind: 1
parents: 2
grandparents: 4
great gp: 8
2 great gp: 16
3 great gp: 32
4 great gp: 64 -> my tree
5 great gp: 128
6 great gp: 256
7 great gp: 512
8 great gp: 1024
9 great gp: 2048
10 great gp: 4096 Total: 8191 Ind I think that achieving a clear report will not be easy to tackle and, 2ndly, such a big narrative report may be, to me, a bit meaningless. I'm no genealogy specialist but I think, generally speaking, there should not be many data available for old generations narratives but: John is no longer alive, Jane is no longer alive, ... You should stick in providing a short narrative for Ind with useful data only.
I browsed the net under 'Kwartierstaat' and saw this graphic example: 
From my above Ind qty, the graphic will still have to cater for 4096 'lines' in vertical and you have to foresee some page cutting/split problem.
It would be interesting to know if Twaidattien have in mind a narrative or a graphic?
The best, I think for clarity purpose, would be to provide a graphic with the Ind names into their boxes followed by a ref number where the meaningful data can be seen in a narrated list.

| Have seen several ancestors reports in various designs, the most common the pedigree design, which is also used in the report made by Ron for Genopro and as a graphic also shown by JC. Another is a pure listing using the "Kelule" Numbering System: 
This list will show the numbers and can show basic information(DoB,DoD,PoB,PoD and a few more). So if you have only few generations, the list will be short, but can be long if you have 40 generations with big numbers in front. Such kind of list is saving paper against a graphic display. From my point of view there is only little value in having such kind of list, but can be of value if you want to transfer data manually from one system to another.

| Ron and maru-san are right. I am looking for a report like that. A have made a familytree for my mother with all ancestors above. It's impossible with the current tools to generate a report that holds all of that individuals. So the upside-down descendant report of which Ron speaks would be the best..

| As far as I was able to find out, the "kwartierstaat" method was designed for use on paper only and limited to 5 or 6 generations per (A4) page. The method is very "descendant-centric", because it ignores all about siblings, second marriages etc., and just lists the ancestors (the pedigree) for a given person. There used to exist preprinted forms for kwartierstaten which were ready to be filled in as such, either by hand or typewriter. They date from well before the computer era. I have attached a sample of one of them related to my family. The left-hand page would list the husband's ancestors, the right-hand page the wife's. Both sides limited to about 6 generations and mentioning numbers in each "box" that allow to link to other pages in the booklet. Some genealogy tools indeed offer the possibility to generate the green (male) / pink (female) graphs as shown in previous replies. But most of the time, only the male branch is followed, since that one is more or less consistent for what concerns the family name.
