Thank you Dan for your wonderfull program.
I have a small problem and hope you can solve it on V2.
I would like to have the ability to enter the "first name" and the "last name" with 2 languages on seperated fileds . today, I enter both languages in the same field, and it's quite a mass.
I tried to use The Fields "second last name" and "alternative name" to enter tne names in my secondary language, but those fields are not usefull enough, because when you edit the skin generator, you can't use the tags: name.last & name.first on those fields, and you can't custom completely the look of your web site.
The problem with the field "alternative name" which is represented by the Tag: "name.alternative", is that with this tag you can't separate The "first name" and the "last name" in the secondary language.
My suggestion is to make a full separation between the lenguages, so when you add a new individual, you will be able to fill these fields:
1. first name in "primary" language - represented by the tag: "name1.first"
2. last name in "primary" language - represented by the tag: "name1.last"
3. first name in "secondary" language - represented by the tag: "name2.first"
4. last name in "secondary" language - representd by the tag: "name2.last"
With this method you will have the fridom to custom the report generator as you like, to display name in both languages on every combination you like.
of course, you can always leave the other tags like "middle name" but seperate it to the tags: "name1.middle" (for primary languaghe) and name2.middle (for secondary language)
Of course, you can alwayse leave the field which is called: "second last name" and use the tags: (name1.last2 - for primary language) & (name2.last2 - for seconfary language) to describe this fields with the two languaghes.
Hope you understood what I ment.

Dear Beraha, Thanks for your suggestion. This is not the first time I receive this suggestion. My problem is I don't know how to do it internally (in C++) and how to do it externally (the dialog layout). I don't want to complicate the user interface with many buttons. If you know an existing software doing it, please let me know. In the meantime, I am still thinking of a useful solution. The internal hyperlinks and the GenoMaps took me a long time to solve. Now they are working nicely. I am confident the same can be achieved with the multi-language text.

Hello Dear Dan
Thank you for your reply. I saw another genealogy program called "Dorotree" which handle this problem quite well.
I took a snapshot of its main screen and you can see the user interface of this program at the address: http://beraha.atspace.com/user_interface.png
Hope you can take some ideas from it.
I don't think it complicates the user interface with so "many buttons". In my opinion, those fields are much more important then other fields which has been added to V2 Beta. But of course, it's my opinion only
If you like to see the problems I have of combining 2 languages "in the same filed" on my web site, you can visit my website at the address: http://www.kobi.2ya.com/
Hope I could help a bit
Kobi

To add on what Beraha said: Dorotree holds two sets of fields: one set for Hebrew and one set for Latin (as it has 5 seperate user interfaces: Hebrew, English, Franch, Spanish and Portugues). You have to remember that when you think about Hebrew, Arabic etc. you are talking about language which is written from right to left, so maybe if you are thinking how to do it take one set of fields for Latin (Left To Right) and one set for the RTL languages. These two sets are "working together" and holding the same information in different languages.
Hope it helps, too.

Thanks for the links. Any help is very useful. I have saved the file user_interface.png on my hard disk. For those who are getting the 403 error while clicking on the link, try to copy & paste the link http://beraha.atspace.com/user_interface.png to another browser. It works
The software where the screen shot was taken is http://www.dorotree.com/.
