I have been looking at the Genesreunited site and notice that in their name search results they give both Place of Birth and Country of Birth. This has never struck me as important as nearly all of my relatives ere born in the UK.

However when you realise that there are Londons in Canada as well as the UK and the US and there are two Washingtons in the UK and many in the US, perhaps we should have a field for Country. Personally I would not want to have to add this to all of my records, although I suppose It could be added through the table option.

The question is, is this a worthwhile addition to the Properties page. If you do not want it, it does not have to be filled in. However it would help track down people born in Europe (or wherever) and moved to another country where there could be records of marriage or death

Seems to me that you have not realized the full potential of the present version (and most Beta versions before).
When the cursor is on the place field, you can edit this place and you will get to another dialog box with more information to be filled in, including the name of the country. So you can have also pictures of your places, but it would be advisable, that already in the first place you make some sort of distinction beteween a London here and there and fill in the details later.

Thanks for reminder. I have such a long drop down list of Places I had forgotten that there is an edit option at the bottom. Now to add Country to data!

When editing a place you need to either select it from the drop down list or use Ctrl+E.
It would be useful if this could be added to the drop down list. At present this only copies the list to the clip board, or controls how the list displays.

Adding Edit Place to this list would make it easier to find.

While I am on the subject of lists, is it possible to move the list back from the clip board - after editing say?
