Genopro Beta Version 2.b12g
-“Baptised Date” has a different form: 26 MAR 1847 instead of 26-Mar-1847 like in the other places (birth, death, etc.) -furthermore it would be interesting to implement not only one source but also optional additional sources -in the religious record information about the religious denomination would be good (e.g. Jewish, Catholic, etc.) -in the contact record a place for the address would be good -in the death record the age could be calculated out of birth date and death date -in the occupation details: industry sectors consulting and local authority are maybe missing? -in the general record of the individuals a source field (e.g. source for the name of the individual) would be good -additional to the field pregnancy length (in the birth record) it could be interesting (for statistical reasons) to insert a field for body height and weight at birth and a field for the blood group -menu/file/Export; if you are choosing “Export to Text Format”, there is no question asking the place to save (folder and name) -an additional feature could be an option to print the individuals data in a separate form on one page to record it on paper form (a paper will be available in 10, 20 years, if the software is still compatible in 20 years is maybe questionable). This would also be important because you can use the print out if you are meeting with family members to ask for missing data. -another additional feature could be the option to print the genomap with small photos of the individuals inside of the individuals box. But I am not sure if other persons are also interesting in this option and if it is feasible. -in the “Contact” folder, point “Contact Details”: if you are pressing “Send Mail…” or the “Browse…” button it should be checked if the field is having some information. If not then a message box with the message that you have first to insert something in the field could opened.
Bug? I was trying to get to know what is a custom tag and how it could be used. I opened the "Tag Editor" and I was then selecting the "Contact" folder and there I entered in a new line of the "Dialog Layouts" ("Layout Name") a word. Then I made two new lines in the "Tags for Dialog Layout". Pressing OK I was receiving no error message, but when I was pressing the preview button and there the OK button a message came with “An internal error occurred without displaying a message to the user (err=87, ieTagData=46, idDlgItem=0” (by the way: in this error message a ")" at the end is missing)

Wow, I just saw this posting. 1. There are currently two dates formats in GenoPro. Until Beta 16 with the new date format, this will remain the same.
2. Eventually, there will be a full dialog for religious information. The religion dialog will look similar to the occupations, as one individual may change religion during a lifetime.
3. I am still thinking of a neat way to record contact information. See the post about "Occupancy" for details.
4. The date of death will be calculated automatically with the new date format of Beta 16.
5. There will be a dialog to display all the sources for an individual, and the option to add extra sources to nearly any field. I have to write the code for this. This is an excellent suggestion.
6. A dialog to display medical information is on the menu too. You are welcome to join the conversation at Topic6064-58-1.aspx
7. The "Export to Text" has a field named "Destination export file" where you can enter the filename to save your file.
8. At the moment, the easiest way to print individual data is to generate a report and print a page of that report. You can see a sample report at http://MorinFamilyTree.GenoPro.com .
9. Having the pictures inside the squares and circles has been my dream since version 1.00 back in 1998. There are many technical issues. See post Topic5212-58-1.aspx for details.

Miks seems to be asking for age at death to be calculated from Dob & DoD. This is done on the display but on the record I suggest it is left as shown.
Many records of death contain information on Age at Death. This of course is often an estimate as the person best able to supply the information is no longer with us. Also many people deliberately, or unknowingly, change their age. However if this data is present it should be recorded as presented. If it is not recorded it should not be inserted.
If it is decided to calculate Age at Death then some method is needed to differentiate it from an actual record, possibly font type or another box

Hi
This is my first post to this message board, although I have been using Genopro for many years. I have been very pleased with the simplicity of the software and the way it can be driven by the diagram (genogram).
I have only discovered the v2 beta recently and would like to add a few comments:-
1. I've often thought that one weakness in previous versions was the lack of set positions for places in relation to BMDs and consequently the effect on GEDCOMs imported or exported - I'm pleased to see that you have resolved this problem.
2. The second weakness that I have previously observed is the inability to record sources in a structured way. You appear to have gone some way to resolving this with sources primarily for BMDs . However, there are many other sources used by F.Historians the most important of which (in the UK & no doubt most other countries as well) are for Census info. There are many other possible 'Sources' where it is not just the need to record the source but also the content of the source e.g images of census pages, copies of wills, tax returns etc. I would therefore suggest that the best solution would be a number of source types on the individual which could be assicated with a HTML link to the document concerned. e.g a source type of 'Census 1851' could have a link to an image of the relevent page for that individual. In practice there would in most cases be links from several individuals to the same census image. I'm not sure how this would affect Exporting a GEDCOM file, but I know that it supports Sources but probably not an HTML link.
3. My only other comment on the changes that I have seen is that there is a lot of ability to handle info that I will never use. There appears to be too much allowance for fields that are only relevent to modern day people and not to our ancestors, which are after all the main aim of our work. The 'emotional tool bar' etc does appear to be a waste of your valuable time, such items are rare and unlikely to be discovered in our ancestors, and could be covered by simple notes without all the work that you must have put in to develop it. It is another case of developing for modern circumstances rather than the situations we are likely to discover in our ancestors.
I hope the above does not sound too destructive, I don't intend it to be so. At this late hour (in your developments) I do not expect to influence your first full release of v2, but hope my points will be considered in the future.
On a lighter note I'm currently trying to convert my wifes Canadian cousins to Genopro!
Good Luck
Santstan
