This files sounds like somthing that was created by Family Tree Maker (FTM). My suggestion is: try to copy the file and rename it by droping the .ftw part so it will be called XX.ged and try open it either with Notepad or other software that lets you read GEDCOMs.
Goodluck.

Is it a text file? If it is maybe it can be edited to the GEDCOM format. I guess it has the basic GEDCOM format but FTM added some unique tags of FTM.

Have you tried to go to : http://filext.com/ and then the box labelled "search for extension ....."? This site has helped me a couple of times.
Another site to try is CKNOW.COM
Good Luck
