In the 2.0 beta version, is there any way to get the "New Mate" to default to "Married" rather than to "Unknown?"
It will take some doing to remember every time to change the relationship to married...

| I found out that "unknown" is better solution. It is better to change from Unknown to "married" as soon as you know and write details about the marriage (date, pictures... etc.). At this time you can change the status and on the genogram you can always clearly see where (on which marriage) you already put the informations.

That was the phylosophy behind having "Unknown" as the default marriage status. Also, GenoPro does not want to create information; that is, if GenoPro assigns "married" to all couples, it implicitly creates information that may not be accurate.

GenoProSupport (long time ago)
| I made the decision that GenoPro does not create any data. I agree the "Marriage" is the most common type of relationship, however it is easy to make the mistake and assume the individuals are married while they are not, or that information is unknown. Someday there will be an option to specify what is the default value when creating families, but until now, you will have to select the martial status each time. |
This issue was brought up sometime ago (Marriage as the default relationship?). I think that for most users <marriage> is the most common value. On the other hand, Dan's decision that GP does not create any data makes sense. Hopefully, sometime in the future the user will have the option to select himself/herself the default value.
