Am I missing something? Why isnt there a Marriage field along with the Birth, Death, Occupation etc etc etc fields when you double click an individual.
I can see that marriage details can be added to the marriage link line but I am always wanting to add marriage details to the two individual records and have to do it in the General notes space at the moment which then doesnt get carried across as a proper marriage field in GEDCOM files of course.
(Apart from that, I think that GenoPro is wonderful.....)

Maybe the issue is that marriage is as complexed as any individual itself. The issue here is that no individual is alone in marriage. So the data should be applied to both individuals involved and not to single. So, in my humble opinion GenoPro addresses this issue better (in logical order of thinking). Although if you have any applicable suggestion, Dan would like to here it from you, I'm sure! BTW, In persons properties, you might set an order of marriages, if something in the dates or settings scrambles it...

The parent child relationship is also a more than one person type, but that is happily coped with. When the relationship is established, the details appear in both individual's record.
I cant see why you cant do the same with marriages.
I suppose that once the marriage link record is added that information could be added to the two people involved.
I'm not really familiar with gedcom files and formats. Is it something to do with the differences in the way that individaul and multiple people data is formatted?

Problem might be in handling the database fields... One should be able to open/edit marriage properties and comments from just one place, author decided that it will be from marriage properties. It complicates a lot to have many (more then one) input places for a single field! In this program you have ability to browse edit properties through tabular view and/or individual item properties. - The other thing is report generator, of which might be possible to ask to see marriage properties/comments within individual's report... It's even the case with now present report generator... From this point of view I don't see other need of representation marriage/relationship within individual's properties... If you can corroborate and describe what you have meant (the use you have for it) I would like to here it...

veganfiddler (3/19/2006) I'm not really familiar with gedcom files and formats. Is it something to do with the differences in the way that individaul and multiple people data is formatted?GenoPro does a lot of extra work underneath when importing data from a Gedcom file. At the moment GenoPro cannot import all the Gedcom data due to technical issues. See topic Unusual behaviour when importing occupation from Gedcom file for details.

You can in fact view the marriage details from an individuals properties, but you have to look for it. If on the Report tab you click on Change Spouse Order... the marriage details of that individual will be displayed. However, one thing I have noticed is that although the marriage details cannot be edited from the Report tab, the details of the children can. I know that you are viewing a subset of the table view for those individuals, but could editing the information here lead to any unforseen results in the properties of the children? Should the fields be read-only?

I was asked why I might want to display marriage information within individual records (Sorry, I cant work out how to do Quotes)
I suppose that it was when using genes reunited and finding that the only way that I could give any description of marriages was by putting them in the General Notes area. We tend to use the graphical way of looking at trees (as on the screen) rather than the Report based method as we find that it gives a clearer idea of relationships and generations.
Is there a tutorial on how to do Reports. I'm sure that I am missing out on a lot of the GenoPro capabilities by not understanding its full range.
And while I'm asking questions (perhaps I should put them in separate queries) is it possible to display the two different bits of information that I find the most interesting on the tree, date of birth and place of birth, at the same time?

Good suggestion! Dan should put it on To-Do list... Just place AND year/date of birth AND death! As for now you can do it only if you put all of it in comment field!
