| Sorry to Bring this issue again. I think it's very important. On the family properties, there is a field called "label". What ever is written on that field is displayed above the line that connects the couple. I would like to see the date of their marriage on that spot. It is always possible to manually type this kind of information on the "Label field", but this data is already exists on the "Wedding date" field.
I suggest that genopro will add an option to display the date from the "Wedding date" field above the line that connects the couple. The user will be able to choose if he wants to see on that spot information from the "Wedding date" field or from the "label field", the same way he can choose under the "Display Tab" on Genopro, what kind of information he wants to see above each individual symbol

I have been thinking about a combo box similar as the display name of an individual. The user could pick a template to automatically format the family label, however could overwrite by typing text.

GenoProSupport (6/14/2006) I have been thinking about a combo box similar as the display name of an individual. The user could pick a template to automatically format the family label, however could overwrite by typing text.I was thinking of that solution: Today, The user can choose what kind of information will be displayd above each individual symbol. Please look at the screenshot bleow:
Isn't it possible to use the same method, and create a new tab that will let the user to choose what kind of information he wants to be displayd above the line that connects the husband and his wife? for exmple: 1. Date of marriage 2. Date of marriage + date of divorce (Ex: M 12.6.1990 D. 23.6.1998) 3. Marriage type 4. Place of marriage 5. Label - For "free" text Are we talking about the same thing?

| Your suggestion is good and would offer extra benefits. What I suggested above was a combo box similar to the individual's full name and display name:
The user could pick a list of possible values, from date of marriage, separation or divorce. GenoPro would "remember" what what selected and re-format the label if the date was changed. I am thinking of using the phrase generator to specify formatting templates. Such feature would appear after v2.0. GenoPro 2.0 is so late it is almost a vaporware.

| Ron has a very clever little tool which takes the marriage date and places in the "Label" box which then shows over the line. It's called "gnoxmlutil.vbs" (it can be downloaded from this site somewhere) It also does lots of other things.:P

Hi, Presently in opening the main Genopro display tab, if not mistaken, all the options are presently associated with individuals. My suggestion is to modify the existing display tab. I therefore suggest that when clicking on the display tab, the following items could be revealed, each of the items having a continuation menu: - General - Individual - Family Upon clicking on General, the continuation menu could show new items such as background color/texture/picture, border, font type & size (may be difficult to implement because restricted place within the Individual text box/area), any other item you can think of and a “Reset” item. Also possibly a “Save” item! Upon clicking on Individual, the continuation menu should basically shows all the actual existing items + a Reset item + a Save item. Upon clicking on Family, a new continuation menu should be created and offer the user the following display options: Marriage & divorce dates, Marriage & divorce places, and/or any additional items mentioned above by Beraha + a Reset (& Save) item(s). Now as far as the display tab associated with a family property is concerned, the actual display tab is virtually empty. Plenty place to implement the options. It would also be a good idea to add up a Reset button on each individual and family display tab.
Since we’re on the subject, if not mistaken again, why whatever display you select under Genopro is presently not reflected/taken into account in the generated report SVG graph? Thank you.

I Think it's a great suggestion, and I hope that Genopro will adopt this solution before V2.

I have the new beta19 and find that when I created a new file and saved it, no xml file was produced and I can't use Ron's "gnoxmlutil.vbs" to label the marriage lines.

Dan has mentioned somewhere, that from 19 the gno itself is a packed xml... If you rename the .gno to .zip you can see the Data.xml inside.
Concerning Ron's tool you may do the following: rename the .gno to .zip, extract Data.xml to somewhere, run the tool on that, update Data.xml in the .zip file with the modified one, rename .zip back to .gno ...boring
Or, if you are using a 3rd party zip manager, like WinZip or 7zip, you can use the XPs Open With command (press Ctrl while right click on the gno) - you can avoid the two rename.
