I always make a swedish translation of the file dictionary.xml, and other files as necessary, when there is a new beta.

This time however, with beta 17, I installed to a new folder, since I have had some troubles identifying files.

When I install the beta, there is no dictionary.xml file to be found...In fact, not even a skin until I run it once from tools > generate report. That produces a large number of files, but no dictionary. What am I missing? Is the dictionary file hidden somewhere?

All the files I normally translate are non-present. Does GenoPro automatically read them from the default path, rather then the path to the new install, since the report generator works without problems?

If I however try to make a skin of my own, (copyinjg the folder as usual), the generator stops if you try to run it using the new skin, since files and templates cannot be read.

Yours,

Anna

The default skin are package inside GenoPro.exe to remain unchanged. Edit the skin to view the files, this will copy them for you automatically.

Yes, the problem is that on my PC, this doesnt work.

My solution is to install the beta on a different computor, then copy the files to mine...

Just wondering if this happened to more people than me? Not being able to see and open the usual files?

This applies both to copying the folders using the built in functions and using the "this computor" option.

Even when I explicitly set the show all types of files and folders, the search option of the PC will NOT find the Dictionary, nor the toc's, nor the htm files under skin in the beta installation folder.

The file Dictionary.xml is part of the skin (report template); it is not part of the report itself. In other words, after generating a report, you should not see this file in the output folder.

I've had a similar problem a couple of times after installing a new beta. When I click 'Edit Skin' or 'New Skin' when the Skin folder is empty GenoPro creates the new 'Englsh Narrative Report' folder but only puts a few of the files in it. I work around this by re-downloading and re-installing the beta. It is as if the download is incomplete.

Try pressing F5 to refresh the content of Windows Explorer.  Sometimes Windows Explorer does not display all the files after a newly folder was created.

If some files were missing in GenoPro.exe, you would not be able to generate any report.

No, it IS a real bug, not just that we cannot see the files, I'd say.

The files generated is, in my examples:
The "code" folder
config.xml
contacts.htm
default.htm

Not even the search function can find any other files in the skins folder, no matter what settings I specify. Ron succeeded in fixing it by re-downloading and re-installing, I generally do not succeed. Hence, I need to use a second computer, and copy the files from a complete folder. Today, I installed in three different directories before swapping computer...

For some reason, the files are not put in the folder, and then the copy clone will not work.

Thanks Ron! Feels somehow consolating that I'm not alone...

Whenever there is a new Beta, I will use "New Skin" to create a new folder with new files within that folder, no files are missing. From here I can transfer (copy/paste) those files which are definitely new to "my own skins" (in Explorer). New parts within the dictionary file are transferred manually to the existing file. Other small changes with regard to layout (home, places, sources, style) are manualy adjusted. I never had missing files in my folder, only missing adjustment, but these are easy to be done.

I can confirm there is a bug when unpacking a skin to disk.

Both Jean-Claude and I were able to get this bug today, however I don't have a step-by-step scenario to reproduce this bug.  So far, I have been able to re-produce this bug only on the release version (the version you got).  I have no idea what is causing the problem; my internal version with the debugging sysmbols and extra sanity checks does not report any sign of a failure.  This is very strange.
