I just installed Genopro. How do I get an Icon to my desktop and how do I bring a file into Genopro.

When you install GenoPro I thought an icon should have appeared. If it is not there then use the normal Windows procedure.
Open the directory where GenoPro is installed which will probably be
c:\Program Files\GenoPro Beta (If you have not got the beta version then reload from the link on this page)
You will see a file called GenoPro.exe with the icon.
Right click on this file and drag it onto the desktop; the menu will then ask you to either Move or Create a Shortcut. Select the shortcut
When you start Genopro you can either open a file that you have created or import a file in the standard interchange format with the file type .ged. No family history programs can use other file types such as text, pdf, doc files etc.
It is possible to use spreadsheet data but with limitations and difficulties
