So I've come across several situations where I have a whole branch of a family that I want to break off for neatness reasons, but keep it in the same genomap. I often decide to do this after the branch is already linked into the rest of the tree. So I'm left with two options:
1.) Delete the pedigree link of the "root" individual to his parents/family, such that I have a completely seperate tree for the root's decendants... then move that tree where I want it... then create a hyperlink for the root and re-child him to his parents.
2.) Select the "root" and all his decendents and everyone else I want in the "subtree" (sometimes difficult and/or tedious depending on tree layout)... select "Move to Genomap" and select an arbitrary genomap to move them all too, then, once they're there, move to genomap to return them to their original map as their own hyperlinked tree.
Adding the current Genomap to the list of possible destination Genomaps on the "Move to Genomap" option would simplify this greatly. Or, if that's not intuitive, some other menu option that achieves the same functionality would be great. You execute a single step and you've broken an entire branch off into it's own hyperlinked subtree.

| This sounds most interesting. I'm also removing branches from time to time. It will be great to select an individual and then something like "select branch" which will cause GenoPro to select all the descendants and souses decesnt from this individual...

I see what you mean. I am thinking of adding a menuitem named "Split to this GenoMap" at the top of the "Move to GenoMap" menu.

GenoProSupport (9/29/2006) I see what you mean. I am thinking of adding a menuitem named "Split to this GenoMap" at the top of the "Move to GenoMap" menu. That would be great. If I understand what you said, I will select an Individual and with the new menu item I will be able to move him and his branch to a new GenoMap?

Yehudad (9/30/2006) [That would be great. If I understand what you said, I will select an Individual and with the new menu item I will be able to move him and his branch to a new GenoMap?You can already do this with the "Move to GenoMap". This function will split the selected branch from the rest of the tree into the same GenoMap. Of course, the branch would be linked to the rest of the tree via hyperlink.
