There is a bug in the formula to calculate the duration in the Education tab.

If the start date is 1963 and the end date is 1965, the calculated duration of the study is 2 years, but the right answer is 3: 1963, 1964 and 1965.

It depends on when school year starts & ends, If you start Jan 63 and finish Dec 65, you are correct. However most people here (UK) start school Sep 63 and finish (say) July 65 - 2 years

Even if you input the beginning on January 1st and the ending on December 31, it calculates correctly 2 years, 11 months and 30 days, never 3 years.

You are right for the northern hemisphere, but in the other half of the planet (where Chile is located)  use to have breaks during the summer (like in the north), so we use to start the classes in february/march and to end in december.

To solve the issue, the field duration must support the direct input of the number of years...

For the education purposes, it looks better to use number of years. I could not see the relevance of the numbers of days or even months.

I suggest you type in the number of years first + the word "Years"(most probably in another language than english), then this field gets pink and will stay even if you enter the year in the fields above.
But just to make clear, it is not a bug but a wish for change.
I think the input of month and year makes sense, the output in your case will be 2 years and 8 or 9 or 10 months. So if you know the month, you should enter this data.
