| After upgrading to GenoPro 2007 I noticed that my families were structured differently. Where I had, for example, two parents and three children I now had five children. The two parent links had been converted to child links. I have not checked ALL my links so far, but it appears to be GenoMap wide. A backup was made prior to the upgrade so no data was lost. Congratulations on GenoPro 2007 -- kudos for a fine product. Sincerely, Steve McClure

Wow! This is a serious bug. Can you send me a sample .gno file with this behavior? I tried to reproduce this on my machine and was unable to.

| The problem is not with GenoPro 2007 but with the novice operator! In 2.b19g I created a file with two parents and three children. I saved the file. GenoPro 2007 was started, which opened my defaulted file from 2.b19g. The parent links are parent links -- two parents, three children. This is what you reported. Beta 2.b19g was started again which opened the defaulted GenoPro 2007 saved version of my file. THIS is where the parent links became child links -- five children. This file was saved. If GenoPro 2007 is started and the file is opened it will show all the original parent links as child links. Again, this is not a GenoPro 2007 problem. I would not expect the new formats to be readable by the beta versions so this is not a bug per se. The GenoProBeta icon has been used so long that it is the primary icon selected for GenoPro (until today!). The beta icon has been removed and the old GenoPro icon has been renamed GenoPro 2007. Thanks for a great product. Sincerely, Steve McClure

| I understand your bug. The problem is as follows: GenoPro Beta 19 cannot understand the entire file format of GenoPro 2007, because new features have been added to GenoPro 2007. We renamed a few tags for GenoPro 2007. The new tags of GenoPro 2007 are unknown to GenoPro Beta 19. As a result, GenoPro Beta 19 cannot import all the data from GenoPro 2007. One tag we renamed is the pedigree link. If Beta 19 does not understand a pedigree link, it assumes it is a child instead of aparent. In your case, all pedigree links became child link (no parent link). I wish there was a solution to this problem. Rest assure, GenoPro 2007 will display a warning for such danger, however the betas are unable to to do. See http://www.genopro.com/help/upgrade/possible-data-loss/ for details. Sorry about this.

I found the same problem when I opened a file, saved with 2007, in 19g , which I did in order to use Rons's "gnoxmlutil.vbs" as it doesn't work with 2007. I now import new Ged files directly into 19g, use the gnoxmlutil.vbs and then save , after which I open it with 2007 and I have no further problems. It would be easier if the util worked with 2007
