I don't know if this is a problem with my PC setup or a universal problem, but some of GenoPro's exit dialogue boxes have question marks instead of text.

Eg, I have made a change in a genomap called 'maternal.gno'.
When I close this, I get a dialogue box

?? ??? Maternal.gno? ??????
Yes No Cancel (in click-boxes - see attachment)

Any idea what causes this.

I get a worse problem elsewhere, but can't re-produce it just now.

Many thanks

jkgla

Sounds like a Unicode problem.  When a name containing non-English characters has to be displayed by Windows, sometimes the translation results in question marks.  This happens often on filenames.

But I haven't used any non-English names or characters.

Here's another example - printing to Adobe Acrobat a file called 'maternal.gno' - genomap 'Skeet' (out of seven included genomaps)

Have you any suggestions for solving this - its mighty annoying, & didn't happen with the previous version of GenoPro?

Many thanks

jkgla

The errors you are getting are within message boxes which are controlled by your settings in Windows. Go to Display Properties and the Appearance tab, and see whether the message box is displaying correctly. If not, you probably have a font selected which cannot display the characters

Hi - good thought, but the display font is 'Geneva' - which is very common & with which I've never had problems in the past.

This issue really puzzles me - I can work round it, but its an un-necessary pain & shouldn't be happening.

It looks like a program bug.

All good wishes

Joan
