I vaguely recall there were some plans to provide a central repository for the different translation efforts.  Has this been decicded yet or did I miss something during my holidays?

This is already work under progress.  Here is a screenshot of v2.0.0.8.  In the meantime, the Language sub-menu is available from the Tools menu.  See http://www.genopro.com/translation/ for details.

I'm not sure I'm understanding you 100%.

If I select "translate menu" and save the result, I presume this will be saved locally, no?

My question was more about how do we share our translation efforts?  Will there be a central repository somewhere?  Who will decide what is to be considered as correct or not?  Or do we stick to mail and/or this forum to exchange our work?

GenoPro always saves a local copy of the translation in the "Lang" folder.  If you look in the folder "C:\Program Files\GenoPro\Lang\", you should see several .xml files, each representing a language pack.

My question was more about how do we share our translation efforts?

If you enable the collaboration, your changes will be automatically uploaded to our server.  You are welcome to take a look at http://www.genopro.com/translation/#stats to see the progress of each language pack.  Once you made 2 or 3 changes, GenoPro will automatically ask you if you want to enable collaboration to upload your translation to our server.

Will there be a central repository somewhere?

The server GenoPro.com hosts the master copy of each language pack.

Who will decide what is to be considered as correct or not?

At the moment, there is no moderator, however we maintain a full log history of each change, and we can easily do a roll-back if something happens.  People are welcome to post on this forum if they have questions or translation issues.

The menu of above version does not contain the "Delete" item (places, pictures, etc). Was this an oversight or only an intermediate solution.

The Delete menu has been moved at the bottom of the Table Layout menu.  The option to delete and consolidate records is also available from the Table Layout Very, so I am not sure if it is necessary.  The View menu was quite long, so having a special menu for the Table Layout is a better option.

Here is a screenshot of the Consolidate menu item from the Table Layout:
