I have been using GenoPro for several years now (since early 2001). I have seen amazing improvements in the product, and would like to use this opportunity to say: Congratulations and Thank You!!!
One feature I wish were available is the ability to copy individuals from one GenoMap and paste them as hyperlinks to a new GenoMap. Something like "Paste Special..." in MS Office programs.
This request come from the fact that I have a master Family Tree (more than 1,000 people), and would like to create new GenoMaps with smaller portions of the family. I can certainly use the copy and paste method, but that creates duplicates of the individuals. My current options are:
1) Manually replace every individual on the new GenoMap with a hyperlink (quite tedious for a GenoMap of 600+ individuals).
2) Regenerate the new GenoMaps every time I make changes to individuals on the master GenoMap.
Any change something like this "Paste Special..." could be added in the near future?
BTW, if anyone has other tips on how to solve this problem in a easier way, I would love to hear it!

The purpose of the Genomaps is exactly what you wish could be done. Rightclick an individual and select from the sub menue `new hyperlink` or `move to Genomap`, if you want to move more than one, select all you want to move, rightclick and select from the sub menue `move to Genomap`.
When you update data on an individual, data on the hyperlinked person is also updated. Family marriage lines can not be hyperlinked yet.

Thank you both for the reply, but that's not what I have in mind. I do not wish to "move" the individuals out of the original GenoMap and into the new GenoMap. I would like to have a hyperlink copy in the new GenoMap, but still retain the individuals in the original GenoMap.
Basically, I want to select all direct descendants of a branch of my family tree and have them copied as hyperlink to the second GenoMap. Unfortunately, I end up having all selected individuals moved to the second GenoMap instead.
I have attached 3 images that hopefully help understand what I'm trying to do. On Image1 I select "Grand Mom 2", and click on the "Direct descendants" button. I then right click and select "Move To Genomap". Image2 shows what I get on the new GenoMap as a result, after an AutoArrange. Image 3 shows what I would like to get on the new GenoMap as a result.
I certainly appreciate your suggestions and I'm more than willing to try other things.

| The closest you can get your charts is by selecting the individuals only(hold down Shift+select) and move to `New GenoMap`. Select the upper most person in the new Genomap, click `F`(to create the family) and create the wife/husband. Do not enter the children in this Dialog box. Close this Box, select the child, right click and select `link as child`.Follow this procedure with each individual. Individuals are hyperlinked with this system, but not the marriage details. After families are created, remove the wifes. It will look like you expects it to be, but when you create a report each individual is married twice.

| This post seems to be the same as one of the issues recently covered in post Duplicate people & Google Maps api i.e. copying a subset of a genomap but with automatic uodates to the copy. I wonder whether the procedures developed by GenoPro for the colloboration module in the imminent Gamma could also be used to maintain subsets in separate .gno files since the amendment history to the 'master' will be available? Otherwise another solution would be to have hyperlinks for every object!

| As maru-san describes, selecting the individuals and using 'Move to GenoMap' actually copies the individuals with hyperlinks. However, when you have reconstructed the Family Lines and Descendent Links, if you select 'Make Label / Exclude From Report' on the Summary tab of the Family Properties, the marriages will only be reported once in the Narrative Report if you generate the report on the whole document. The alternative is to leave the 'Make Label / Exclude From Report' box unchecked, and then only generate the Narrative Report on individual GenoMaps.

Folks,
Thanks for the responses. Yes, maru-san, I was afraid that the only way to do this was to manually link each child to the relationship. That's what I had been doing.
I noticed one difference between using the "New Hyperlink" versus the "Move To GenoMap". Basically, when I select all (Crtl-a), press "enter", and look at the GenoMaps tab, the statistics on Individuals and # Hyperlinks is different, depending on which function I use. From my observations, it seems that "New Hyperlink" will retain the individual on the source GenoMap, while "Move To GenoMap" will move the individual to the target GenoMap and create the hyperlink on the source. I can't think of any advantages one way or another, but it is a difference.
I'll keep on manually linking children and parents until an easier solution is available.
As per Ron's response, I do have a feeling that hyperlinks for all objects would allow me to achieve what I'm looking for.
Howard53, thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I only plan on running report on one GenoMap at a time, so your recommendation for the reports would work for me.
