On this page http://www.genopro.com/free/ it says that GenoPro version 1.70 (November 2002) is free. Also, at the bottom it says that GenoPro 2.0 Beta 13h is Free!

I did try the first part, version 1.70, and it seems to work for free. The Beta version doesn't seem to work for free, as claimed. Can someone please help. I am actually looking for a free version, which could generate GED to HTML pages for publishing on the web.

Thanks in advance. Sai

GenoPro Beta 13h is free.  I can confirm this, as I installed it just a few minutes ago.  Did you downloaded and installed file http://www.genopro.com/beta/archives/InstallGenoProBeta13h.exe.

If you claim Beta 13h is not free, can you please post a screenshot to show otherwise?

That was fast. Thanks for a very quick reply. Your link for the InstallGenoproBeta13h seems to work fine. Will this be free for ever or do you foresee a policy change. Thanks again. Sai

We have no plans to change our policy to download previous versions of GenoPro.  We are confident many users will purchase our most recent version with the latest features.

We do not provide support nor patches (bug fixes) for older version of GenoPro... Use those old versions of GenoPro "as is" and at your own risk.

If you are happy with Beta 13h, feel free to use it - free.

We plan to keep the Beta page for many years, perhaps 10 years.  I always recommend doing a backup, so feel free to include InstallGenoproBeta13h.exe in your backup - in case the page http://www.genopro.com/beta/archives/ is no longer available.

GenoPro 2007 is much better however, as there has been several improvements since Beta 13h.

Thanks to you both for the quick reply.

I used Genopro several years ago, when it was all free. Recently, there had been renewed interest from our expanding family members over the charts I prepared, long time ago. I've decided to spruce them up and publish them for a demo to the family, who would decide on purchasing. How does the licensing work? Can one purchased copy be used by husband, wife and their kids on different computers? tks. Sai

If the husband, wife and kids live on the same roof, then a single license key is good for all those computers, otherwise you need a license key per computer.

I am using the free beta version and have generated some html reports. Will I be allowed to post them onto http://familytrees.genopro.com

Also, how does the graphical display show up on the website? Does it require a GED file or does the software generate it automatically when generating html reports. thanks. Sai

The free version (Beta 13h) was written years ago and I cannot remember in details its features.  I think the new report generator started with Beta 14.

One thing however is you can try GenoPro 2007 free for 14 days, and the report generator produces SVG content you can publish directly to http://familytrees.genopro.com.
