| Hello: I have been using GenoPro for over three years now and absolutely love the program. I recently migrated from an XP to a Vista computer. I created my directory structure on teh Vista machine EXACTLY as it existed on the XP machine and d/l GenoPro on the new machine. Unfortunately, I cannot get my pictures to come over properly. When I click on a person in the Genogram, the pictures do not show up. When I check the directory of the pictures on the pictures properties, it appears that the directory is correct. I've tried to re-link the pictures but to no avail. When I create the report (again on the new machine, I save the report to the exact path as on the old machine), pictures do not show (as the report is generating, an error (something to the effect that the file cannot be located) appears for each picture file (over 600 of them). Thankfully, I didn't upload the file yet to GenoPro's servers, so my on-line site is still pristine. Please help as it would be extremely difficult and time consuming to re-build this entire project (especially if I needed to re-attach all of the pictures one at a time.) Many thanks, Tony Favata

Genopro only references pictures, not store them. Have you copied the photos to the new computer?

| I copied the folders and all of their content over to the new PC in the EXACT pathname/directory format as it was on the old PC. In addition, what I thought was strange, when I tried to re-attach the pictures manually (did a couple), I generated the report on my local drive, and there was a little red X where the picture should be. Again, I checked the path, and all seemed OK. Again, anybody that could help, I'm in dire straits here! Many thanks, Tony Favata

| I don't mean to be pushy but could one of the developers of this software please help out a paying customer? As I mentioned, I'm in dire straits here, and I would imagine that moving from an XP to a Vista machine should have been easy, especially since I planned ahead. Not going as planned, needless to say. Most of the time the path of the images/photos are relative to the path of the .gno document.
1. Test that on your previous system the picture actually display in GenoPro, this is a "proof" that the path match".
2. Copy the pictures as you said the your new computer at the same path.
3. Copy the .gno document to the same path as your previous system.
4. Open the .gno file and test that the file are display in GenoPro.
If the path match but they don't display in GenoPro nor in the report it's probably a permission error in the images.

There is a problem with thumbnails in version 2.0.1.6 of the Narrative Report. Did the pictures appear when you clicked on the 'little red X' ? If so then they are properly linked in GenoPro but you need to either install IrfanView or use the latest Narrative Report skin. Regarding you other pictures may I suggest you compare with GenoPro on each system under Table Layout / Pictures.. Compare Relative Path and Path columns to ensure they are identical, also preserve Full Path setting.
