Not so much as a bug but more of a 'heads up' for a future issue. I'm running the new MS OS, Windows 7 beta, on my Samsung NC10 netbook (nice toy!). So far I find that GenoPro runs well except that clicking on the genomap tabs at the bottom of the window has no effect. Instead I have to use the Properties dialogue in order to switch genomaps. I also find that right clicking on a GenoMap tab has no effect either. Windows 7 is very much like Vista so I wonder why there is this issue.

The GenoMaps tab is an extension of a scroll bar using subclassing.  The subclassing technique GenoPro uses is the correct way of programming this kind of functionality.

So far, the GenoMaps tab has been working fine under all Windows versions, from Windows 95 to Vista.  I will wait for the final release of Windows 7 and see what happens.  It is likely WIndows 7 beta has bugs, and the GenoMap problem is just a side effect of one of those bugs.

Hi, I'm back after being very busy discovering some very interesting ancestors going back to the 700's

I was testing Windows 7 on my second hard drive and found this problem amongst others so I wiped it.

I have now installed the latest version Windows 7 Ultimate which has the same problem for GenoPro.

This version will operate untill summer 2010 so perhaps a solution could be found in the mean time as the definitive new version of Windows will surely have the same problem after that.

I will update my tree towards the end of the year after my visit to Leslie in Fife where my mother's ancestors came from.

I am now running Windows 7 RC as well and seems to be quicker than the beta. A temporary work-around to the GenoMap Tabs issue is to change the compatibility mode and disable visual themes. i.e. right click on your GenoPro.exe file in Windows Explorer, choose Properties and click the Compatibility tab. Then check the 'Disable Visual Themes' option and click OK. Maybe this will give a clue as to the underlying problem?

I had an interesting trip to Leslie in Fife but must go back again to find out more about my ancestors.

I finally removed Windows 7 and reinstalled Windows XP Home edition which works well with GenoPro.

I will update my tree soon but must also update my web site as it has glitches and some images don't show any more.

I would like to try the Gamma software to see how it goes.
