In the Display menu, I can choose to have the DOB and DOD stacked up, or I can use some of the other menu options to display the place of birth or the place of death, but these are all exclusive of each other.

I'd like to display 4 things (and I don't mind that it makes the box for an individual bigger): date of birth, place of birth, date of death, place of death. I'm not sure whether it would matter if the date/place for each event were on the same line or on two different lines; one solution would make two longer lines, the other 4 shorter lines -- that might be preferable since Genomaps already tend to be much wider than they are tall.

While we're at it, another great option would be a label on a family line, which you could choose to be the date of the marriage, or the place, or the date and the place. Right now, I type this label by hand, in addition to entering the information in the family details, so this is double-entry. But I want to display this information to easily identify the period and location where/when that family lived.

Thanks.

My XML Toolkit for GenoPro provides a compromise solution for this.

The compromise is that it is achieved by editing the GenoPro .gno into another file (.xml) and needs to be run before each occasion your tree is re-published so as to update it with any changes.

I would like to know how I can display information simultaneously on my genopro family tree.  For example date of birth/death disappear if I add comments or occupations to the map?  How can I display all information on the tree for printing?

At present the standard options are a bit limited, as you have found. The answer is to create a Custom Tag. You can do this directly but better use a Report skin written to get things going. Go to

You either manually copy all the required information into a Custom Tag and display that tag or use my XML Toolkit to do the copying for you. I suggest you try this on separate copy of your .gno file as I cannot guarantee compatibility with say GenoPro Gamma (a.k.a Monica).

Hi Folks

I have tried to add exact months to dates of birth I had already inserted in my genogram.  Somehow, these dates now turn pink in colour and are no longer displayed on the genogram itself nor in the preview.  However, there is a 'tick' on the Display Date of Birth drop-down menu.  Help please.  Under time pressure.

If the Date of Birth box turns pink it means that the information entered is in a format that GenoPro does not recognise. If you can be more explicit in what you are doing then perhaps you can get further help.

Your dates may be turning pink if you've switched the date format on your PC, and you are trying to enter dates in the older format.  ie, Month/Day/Year vs Day/Month/Year

Hello,

I would also like to display simultaneously birth date and place. I created a custom tag as you suggested, but when I choose to display it, this is again the only tag displayed, and therefore I can only display either the birth date or the birth place. Maybe I didn't understand correctly how to manage the custom tags. I would very much appreciate it if you could give some more information about this.

Many thanks in advance!
