Hello,

is it possible to export to gedcom values from godfather and godmother fiels (not with NOTE tag)? I use Export to Gedcom Version 2014.01.22

Thanks

I can be mistaken but there does not seem to be a provision in GEDCOM (5.5) for this.

The only thing I could find was the association/relation indication for a given individual that he is the godfather of another individual, like in:

0 @I1@ INDI

1 NAME Fred/Jones/

1 ASSO @I2@

2 RELA Godfather

I have looking into this on other forums as well.  It appears that the relation is round the other way i.e. from the Gedcom Standard:
Other associations or relationships are represented by the ASSOciation tag. The person's relation
or association is the person being pointed to. The association or relationship is stated by the value
on the subordinate RELA line. For example:
0 @I1@ INDI
1 NAME Fred/Jones/
1 ASSO @I2@
2 RELA Godfather

and also
RELATION_IS_DESCRIPTOR:= {Size=1:25}
A word or phrase that states object 1's relation is object 2. For example you would read the following
as "Joe Jacob's great grandson is the submitter pointed to by the @XREF:SUBM@":
0 INDI
1 NAME Joe /Jacob/
1 ASSO @<XREF:SUBM>@
2 RELA great grandson

I interpret the 1st example as meaning that the Individual with ID I2 is the Godfather of Fred Jones, i.e. Fred is the grandson.

My Export to Gedcom skin produces ASSO & RELA tags from GenoPro Social & Emotional Relationships but I appear to have misinterpreted the direction of such relationships when creating the tags too.  Currently running the Export skin on
http://support.genopro.com/Uploads/Images/ff409180-20de-491a-95f9-71fa.png
gives:
0 @ind00001@ INDI
1 NAME godson //
2 GIVN godson
1 SEX M
1 ASSO @ind00002@
2 RELA godchild
0 @ind00002@ INDI
1 NAME godfather //
2 GIVN godfather
1 SEX M
1 ASSO @ind00001@
2 RELA godparent

when it should be:
1 NAME godson //
2 GIVN godson
1 SEX M
1 ASSO @ind00002@
2 RELA godparent
0 @ind00002@ INDI
1 NAME godfather //
2 GIVN godfather
1 SEX M
1 ASSO @ind00001@
2 RELA godchild

I will fix that.

The more I read this, the more I'm getting confused.

I like to look at this way:

The RELA qualifies the ASSO tag, so the relationship describes the ASSO individual, not the INDI individual.
i.e we have INDI->ASSO->RELA not INDI->RELA->ASSO.  (or does that just confuse thing even more :ermmSmile

Anyway in version 2014.02.07 of the skin I have switched it around to what I think matches the spec. .  I have also enhanced to way in which RELA value is derived by taking gender into account, so for example now have godson/goddaughter instead of godchild.

To the OP, powery, I think social relationships are a better way to show godparents, as it is then two way, i.e. you can see the godchildren of the godparents as well.  The baptism fields are just text entries and do not link to individuals on the GenoMap (and are only exported as NOTE entries :rolleyesSmile

If you don't want unrelated godparents cluttering your GenoMap, I suggest you move them to another unused GenoMap.  The social relationship remains and gets reported but is not visible on either GenoMap.
