Ron suggested to have a 'Root Name' for each individual. By default, GenoProX will use the family name if the root name is not specified. The Root name will be used to provide a reliable mechanism to sort (or group) individuals by family names.

I think it will work well with Slavic languages (Russian, Czech, etc.) but what about nordic ones where family name is (AFAIK)a) in some inherited after mother (i know example or two in norway)b) named just after father (i.e. Olafdottir - for girl, Olafson - for boy) BTW, Russia still has thing called Отчество, patronymic name and some people are better known (at least locally) after that name then after last name... i.e. every Russian knows who Josif Visarionovič, or Vladimir Vladimirovič are..

My proposal is that each individual can have one or more 'name sets' with each 'name set' comprising of one or more forenames, one or more last names and optionally a root name. There needs to be a way of indicating which of the forenames is normally used, e.g. via a 'preferred name' index, as sometimes it is not the first registered forename. The sort order will be: root name or last names, forenames, then date or birth. Prefixed last names will need to be addressed e.g. Louis van Gaal I think should be sorted as Gaal, van, LouisMultiple name sets will allow for cases where someone is or has been known by different names, e.g. some immigrants to the UK chose to 'Anglicise' their surname, some have names in more than one language, e.g. English and Hebrew, sometimes there are transcription errors when recording names and so documents can refer to the same individual via different names. When multiple name sets are present then an index entry should be created for each one. If there are any more suggestions now is the time to say whilst GenoProX is being developed.

on some country there are two family name s, one is the first from father and the first from mother
on other country is the first from mother and the first from father
in Spain, actually, the people use the first option (1 father + 1 mother) but they can decide to use (1 mother + 1 father) this option will be done for the first Child... all the rest of children will take the same order from the first
