I just noticed this now, while thinking about how long I've been using GenoPro in composing my response to another thread, and I was sure that the forum used to show a user's date of joining the forum, either in public information or in the complete user profile... but it doesn't seem to be there now. Was it removed, or did it never exist in the first place? Unsure

Update: I found a "number of years" value in the basic info popup for all members; maybe that was what I was thinking of... but I thought there was something more than that. (We need a "question mark" emoticon; something more for the wish list.)

According to our records, you requested your first evaluation key on Nov 21, 2005 (1391 days ago) with GenoPro 1.99b.  We may have in the database a timestamp where the record was created, however this is what we have.  With GenoProX people will be able to better customize their profile and decide what contact information they want to share, such as email, phone number, etc.

Interesting. I thought that the user profile pop-ups used to show this information.

I think the math is a bit out on that number of days, however. November 21, 2005 is over ten years ago, which is far more than 1391 days... more than 3652 days, in fact, taking the two leap years into account... to be precise, from 5 February 2016 (since it's now after midnight where I am), it's exactly 3728 days, including today but not including the starting date. I think; I did the math in my head without reference to a calendar. Numbers are something I do well. Smile

My mistake, it is the number of days between requesting an evaluation key and purchasing GenoPro - I am surprised I have not noticed, because 10 years is 3650 days.  We use this number to determine the average and median time for our users to become paid customers.  For instance, at the moment, the median time to purchase GenoPro is 2.1 days and the average time is 129.5 days.

I was thinking that it was strange that it took me so long, but then I remembered that I was distracted by other things; late 2005 is around the time I was starting to make plans for the computer service business I moved 250 km to start up, and self-employment itself doesn't leave a person with a lot of spare time. I sold the business in late 2007 and moved another 400 km to where I am now, and February 2008 is when I started having the time to work on my genealogy seriously, but it clearly took me some time to remember the program and get the full version paid for, although 1391 days is about right for late 2008, when I first found steady employment that didn't involve sitting at a desk all day (because I do that for fun, so I don't want to be doing it for a living as well; I need exercise somehow).
