I'm currently a master's student preparing to enter our practicum and am considering purchasing a genogram-creation program. I haven't been able to find the exact difference between GenoPro 2016 and GenoPro X. The student price for X is cheaper, but I don't want to buy an inferior product.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

GenoPro 16 is a mature program and an established genogram  creator. GenoProX has not yet got to the Beta stage and so a full release is some time off. As such I would think you need the present version. There is an 180 day evaluation version at http://www.genopro.com/professions/students/
