I am trying to highlight the focus family on my simple genogram.  When I highlight the individuals concerned, then right click, it does not given me the option of household: rather it gives me family wizard, new social entity and various new legends.  Where am I going wrong?

Looks like you are either right clicking with no items selected or not positioning the cursor over one of the selected items before right clicking.  I suspect the latter is the case.  

Cursor arrow should have a vertical cross at its tail with arrow heads on each axis of the cross, i.e. the 'move' cursor icon.

Bingo!!  Thanks very much for your help - and yes it was the latter - I was moving the cursor away post highlight - so it defaulted to wizard......i've been trying to sort that out for an embarrassingly long amount of time.
