Is there a way to add children to a family so they are included in the Reports, but do not show on my tree

Since a report is made based on what you have in the tree, you can not remove the children from the tree, but what you can do is place a white blank label on the children you do not want to show(position to the front).
I hope this serves your purpose.

You can turn off parts of the display for any Individual by unchecking components in the Display tab of the Individual's Properties panel. You can see the effect in the preview panel as you change any parameter.
