I am quite sure that the revision to ParamSettings.hta is not the cause of your report publishing failure.  ParamSettings.hta is launched by the Narrative ReportInit.htm script as a Microsoft 'HTML Application' as a free standing process using the MS executable, mshta.exe. The only interaction with the Narrative Report process is via the Windows Registry where non-default Configuration Parameters are stored.

The revision to this file merely changes an existing HTML text Input field to a textarea field allowing multiline input.

Perhaps your internet connection was problematic at that time or perhaps the GenoPro server had a glitch?

I am also at a loss to explain the increase in processing time between the two versions of the Narrative Report skin.  Is possible that amendments to your data has caused this issue? The image you included suggests that the script Family.htm was running at the time the report was aborted. were there significant changes here, e.g. Custom Markup?   It could be that my coding in this area is causing a problem.

P/S. Some of the images in the .rar file you attached do not appear to relate to running the Narrative Report skin template as the coding is Javascript and not VBScript.

Hallo Ron,
http://support.genopro.com/Uploads/Images/0fa2564e-6264-41d9-af63-3b9a.png

I have run my own .gno through both the current and previous Narrative Reports onto my local drive.  This is a much smaller dataset than yours but should still be valid.  My initial runs were slow, achieving a similar speeds to you with less than 2 pages per second being achieved.  I noticed in Task Manager that Windows Defender anti-malware was using the most CPU time during report generation.

By default Windows Defender, and I presume other antivirus products, have real time virus scanning turn on and therefore scan every file written by the Report Generator, adding a massive processing overhead.  Windows Defender allows you to disable real time checking on specific folders, e.g. the one where your reports are generated.  When I disabled this I achieved speeds of more than 5 files per second and the two versions were very similar

Skin 2021.02.12:

Generated and written 9662 pages in 1748.594 seconds
average performance of 5.53 pages per second
[1748.67] Writing files from skin...
[1748.68] Writing 241 pictures to report...

Skin 2021.03.20

Generated and written 9661 pages in 1783.031 seconds
average performance of 5.42 pages per second
[1783.09] Writing files from skin...
[1783.10] Writing 241 pictures to report...

I have once again compared changes in scripts between the two version and have found nothing that could cause significant differences in elapsed times.

Most of the elapsed time is due to writing files and the data content and output files for the two versions are virtually identical and so should be the same.  (There was a small change of just 20 extra bytes in individual.htm files to fix timeline 'undefined' issue).

Note also that when generating to familytrees.genopro.com into an existing report folder GenoPro optimises the upload and skips files that have not changed by comparing timestamps in the file GenoProCache.xml.  And there is no virus scanning at the client end.

Generated 42671 pages (22463 pages unchanged, 20208 pages written) in 27963.188 seconds
average performance of 1.53 pages per second
[27963.54] Writing files from skin...
[27963.59] Writing 1152 pictures to report...
[27964.18] Report fertig! Das Fenster kann geschlossen werden.

Generated and written 42671 pages in 28493.641 seconds
average performance of 1.50 pages per second
[28493.76] Writing files from skin...
[28494.12] Writing 1152 pictures to report...
[28510.23] Report fertig!

http://support.genopro.com/Uploads/Images/81b23f4f-a9f3-4cd7-a6b0-8a22.png

Ergebnis:

Generated and written 42671 pages in 11360.485 seconds
average performance of 3.76 pages per second
[11360.64] Writing files from skin...
[11361.12] Writing 1152 pictures to report...
[11376.25] Report fertig! Das Fenster kann geschlossen werden.
