When moving a group of people from sheet1 to sheet2 using the "move to GenoMap" option everyone is moved and any that have a relationship to someone left on sheet1 is left on sheet1 and an internal hyperlinks are created between their two entries. The problem comes if two people are left on sheet1 and they are related. The line relating them is moved to sheet2 and removed from sheet1. If the relationship is recreated on sheet1 it all looks fine but when the file is saved and reopened the link on sheet1 is not there.

Can you tell me which beta you are using?
If the relationship is recreated on sheet1 it all looks fine but when the file is saved and reopened the link on sheet1 is not there.
Does the problem occurs when re-opening with a .gno or an .xml file?

Version 2.b12g

I think it is OK if I import the XML file so just the gno file has the reinstated link missing.

Just tried some experiments and it is getting more confusing. If I open the XML file the link is there and I can add relationships to other hyperlinked people and when I save them the link is kept in both the gno and xml files. Maybe my original gno file is corrupt and opening the XML file fixes it. I can send you the files if you want, but finding out why my file got corrupt is not as important as getting version 2 out.

A few more experiments and I think it is when you go from a version 1 to version 2 the gno file will not store the second relationship line but the XML file does. I presume you recreate the gno file when you load the XML file and seems to clear the problem.

Data corruption is the most severe type of bug. It would be a real nightmare to find out GenoPro 2.0 shipped with a bug causing data corruption. I would reallly appreciate to see sample files, and I will be able to tell you with details what/where the problem is.

The problem you are describing exactly the same as the post "Internal Hyperlinked Families". What appears as data corruption is because you are using a "Shape" object to mimic the horizontal line of the family object. The shape object is not available in GenoPro 1.x, so GenoPro Beta does not store it into the "v1x.gno" file, and therefore the shape is lost when you re-open that file using the Beta.

When you want to link two individuals as mate / spouse using Ctrl+M, GenoPro will select any existing marriage before creating a new marriage for the two individuals. This is a feature to prevent to re-marry the same individuals using the Family Wizard and/or the Ctrl+M shortcut. As a result, if the marriage object is in another GenoMap, GenoPro will jump to the GenoMap where the individuals are already married.

From my understanding, you want to to create the same marriage on two different GenoMaps; something similar as the internal hyperlinks for individuals. At the moment, this feature is not available, however I am seriously thinking about it. I am willing to do it because I believe it is the right thing to do and will add flexibility to create sophisticated family trees. If I do it, it will be in Beta 15... it will require a solid month of work. There is a lot of work underneath for those "internal hyperlinks".

After receiving your .gno file, .xml file and a few screenshots , I understand your question. You were using the word "relationship" to refer to the "Emotional Relationship", while I thought you were talking about "Family Relationship".

If the relationship is recreated on sheet1 it all looks fine but when the file is saved and reopened the link on sheet1 is not there.

Thanks to your screenshots, I was able to find the problem. The reasons why the [emotional] link is not there is because the smiley toolbar button "Toggle the visibility of the emotional relationships in GenoMap" is not pushed, and therefore all the emotional relationships are hidden. When you create a new emotional relationship, only that specific emotional relationship is visible. When you save, all those relationships are automatically hidden.

If you open your .gno file and click on the smiley toolbar button, you will see all those emotional relationships re-appear. The difference between the .gno and the .xml is the .xml file does not store the state of the smiley toolbar button, and therefore all emotional relationships are visible after importing an .xml file.

The good news is I have added code to automatically "push" the smiley toolbar button when a new emotional relationship is created. I also added code in the Table Layout to automatically display all emotional relationships in the family tree when the Table Layout is displaying the emotional relationships in the grid. The fix will be available in Beta 13.

Don't say this... you helped to improve GenoPro. I am serious about this. I am glad you wrote about this issue because I am sure you are not alone. After you sent me your .gno file, it took me several minutes to understand why those emotional relationships were not showing up. Like you, I thought it was a bug. This is a bit naive from my part, since I wrote this code and I should know that the emotional relationships are hidden if the smiley toolbar button is not pushed. I am very glad I made those improvements. It was well worth the time.
