Only time it happens to me is when I'm trying to open a file created with beta with v.1.91 !

You should be more specifically and describe circumstances under which it occurs i.e.:

GenoPro version you have on your computer, version with which the file was created and version with whom are you trying to open the file. (If they differ one from other.) …And/or something else out of ordinary…

In any case, make a copy of file you're trying to open on some other location (copy/paste) and work with copy until situation is resolved...

First of all, can you tell me what version you are trying to open the .gno file, and what specific error you get. If you are using GenoPro Beta, you should be able to open any .gno file.

The file has been corrupted and this is not the fault of GenoPro. The most frequent file corruption happens when copying a file to a floppy disk. I have personally experienced file corruption on floppy disks while I was a student. File corruption was so frequent on floppy disks that I was carrying two floppies, each with a copy of the file I wanted to print or submit.

I have seen file corruption on CDs. After burning a CD, the file cannot be opened, not even with Notepad. The CD has no scratches, yet unable to load or copy the file anywhere. I am not talking about copyrighted files, just a normal backup on a CD.

File corruption also happens on hard disks too. I have seen this numerous times, from regular documents to Windows files stored on the hard disk. Once, I have seen a Windows DLL (MFC42.DLL) being truncated for no reasons on a normal day of activity. Computers are not perfect. Sometimes the hard disks crashes for good... I have seen this too.

I am sorry about your loss of work. You need to find your most recent backup and continue from there.

If you have GenoPro Gold, you can send your file as an email attachment. I can take a look at it. I cannot guarantee anything, however it is possible to recover what's in the file if the file got truncated.
