If I'm getting this right You are mixing 3 things:

1. GenoPro as a program creates its own files. The .gno file is the file on your computer containg all the data that you entered into your family tree. This is the file that you edit and update and it is on your computer.

2. You can Import and Export data from your tree by using File - Import File... or File - Export (with some options in the menu). This option is mainly to transfer data between Genealogy files.

3. Publishing your tree in the Internet. You have to Generate a report over your family tree using the report generator (Tools - Generate Report) in order for GenoPro to produce HTML pages for each individual and family. You the upload these file to your web site.

I hope this answer your question.
