| I have just noticed a bug with gedcom export when I imported the gedcom that I had made of my main tree into Legacy in order to do some internet research. None of the marriage details showed up nor the photos, even though I had configured Legacy to look for the photos in the appropriate folder.

Beta 15 has changed the way the marriages & divorces are handled. The data is not lost but stored in a different section of the Gedcom file, making it unaccessible by third party applications. I need to fix this in the future.

iaintait (11/17/2005) Does this apply to the photos as well ?Yes. GenoPro exports the pictures in the PICTURES section which should be in the OBJE (object) record.

| I had configured Legacy and PAF5 to look for the photos in C:\Pictures as in GenoPro but they don't show up in this other software, only when I make another Genopro file and import the gedcom do they show up.

| I've just exported my file from GenoPro v1 rather than the beta. I then tried importing into: Family Tree Maker, Legacy, RootsMagic and Family Historian. The only error was about the line '2 ADDR http://www.genopro.com' which was ignored and is fine. Doing the same in v2 gives me pages of errors, I REALLY REALLY hope that the final v2 fixes all these! Why on earth has so much been broken between the versions. GEDCOM is surely a standard which is used to move between packages and should be as compatible as possible, if I wanted to use it only in GenoPro then I wouldn't be saving it to GEDCOM, if I am then pretty obviously I want ALL the relevant data (and things like marriage date and cause of death are surely pretty standard and pretty relevant) to be transferable. It's still my favourite but it needs to be a little more compatible.

Hi, Is there any timeframe as to when GEDCOM files from Genopro to Rootsmagic, Family Tree etc will become fully compatible (i.e. pictures and other data will not be lost/hidden in the conversion)?

Using 'Export to GEDCOM via the Report Generator....' option instead of the 'Export to GEDCOM Format' one produces a Gedcom 5.5 compatible file that should import to other packages without problems. If you do encounter issues, please post specific details here.
