I am seeking information on ISAAC MAITLEN, whose surname may also have been spelled MAITLAND or MEDLIN or MEDLEN, or even possibly MAUTALANT. The end of our trail was with a marriage license taken in Sussex County, Virginia, in 1784 to SARAH FIERS. What we know is from that time forth, as Isaac and Sarah joined her father JOHN FIERS (a Methodist minister) in a move to Ohio to found a Methodist settlement. Isaac is reported to have been from the MAITLAND family of Edinburgh/Thirlestane, Scotland, but we have not been able to make the connection. PLEASE HELP if you can! Maitlenclan
