Report Print Options - considering printing up a 'book'

G'day folks.

While I have been using genopro for some years, I have never reached the point of printing out more than a page or two from the reports I have generated.

But I was considering printing up a 'book' for some of my family who have no idea of how to turn computers on (let alone use them)Hehe

I had a quick look, but wasn't able to find any way to press a button and make the whole thing print out in any kind of book format unless I went through each page and printed it individually (not today, I think)Sick

Is there a way for me to print it all out simply?  or to transfer it as a job lot into a single word document that I can edit and print out as a book?

At present you cannot generate book style reports for printing with GenoPro 2007. Now that the HTML based narrative report is quite stable I plan to start work on such a report shortly.

In the meantime I suggest you use the GenoPro 'Generate Report' option and select the 'Export to Gedcom' report skin. You can then import the generated Gedcom file into another package, such as Legacy Family Tree, and produce the other report styles you require.

One of my family members has asked if I could produce the report in a book form for him. I came across Ron's post and was wondering if there has been any further work done on this. If not, is Ron's suggestion still the best option?

The thread you suggested deals with the Descendants report. What I would need is to be able to print my Customised Narrative Report in some kind of book format, including photos?

The Descendants Report is in fact the printed report I refered to in my earlier post. The interactive and interlinking of the Narrative Report does not make it amenable to printing as a book. At present I have no idea of how to organise a printed version of the same.

The Descendants Report does allow selection of multiple individuals and/or families to produce a combined report. EDilena's work on extending this report, (see here) provides for printing of photos in the Descendants Report.

It may be tedious but if you have a limited number of 'root tips' in your tree your can select them all and run the Descendants Report to produce a printable report of everyone in your tree.

Thank you for that, Ron. I will give that a try.

A possibility for creating such a book could be using:
1) the Narrative Report system structure and
2) an HTML-JPG Converter. For info, I also tried an HTML-Doc converter but the page came up only with boxes?
The process would be: creation of Html pages (modif of the existing produced ones), conversion to JPG and insertion into a MS Word/OO Doc (or PDF) file. The problem may be the Files Sizes!
The book could comprise: Ind Index, Fam Index (unless maybe fHideFamilyDetails="N" but more paper/ink may then be required) and perhaps Sources. For the sake of saving paper/ink, Places may not be required. All features/indexes should be User selectable.
I downloaded and installed a demo soft and here is, for example, the result of my own page (orig 140KB):

This is with the Occupancy/contact and Pedigree Chart closed. The Timeline didn't come up. I also crossed in red the irrelevant data. The Personal Timeline for an Ind may not be required.
I then set <fCollapseNotes/References> to "N" and got this jpg (orig 340KB):

The Pedigree Chart didn't come up as expected!. Maybe would have been better/correct with another Conversion Soft?

So Ron, I may have found you another job for sometime, if found technically feasible by Genopro and yourself!

Do a google search the "The Complete Genealogy Reporter." I utilize this program with GenoPro and it is wonderful. The reports are created in PDF files which can then be uploaded to a site like Lulu.com which produces beautiful hardcover books that you can custom design before purchasing.

www.tcgr.bufton.org

The registered version of the program is inexpensive and well worth it. The program is completely compatible with GenoPro. It will allow you to include all your pictures and will print every pedigree chart in your report.
The output is in full color (assuming you have color pictures in your Genopro report)
