Lets say I want to describe the development of a relationship between two individuals: A & B.

1. A & B had a "Love affair" between 2000-2002

2. They were engaged between 2002-2003

3. They got married on 1.1.2004

I've open the Family propertied of A&b

Then, under the "union & marriages" table I pushed the "New" button to describe the new stage of A&B 's relationship.

The problem is that the field "relation" describes only the current status of A&B.

I don't understand the Goal of that "NEW" button.

Is it just for the "marriage" stage?

It is not so common that a & b would be married several time like this report:

So - How can I enter data to genopro to get a report like this (For example):

"A and B had a love affair from 1.1.2000 until 31.12.2002. They were engaged between 2002-2003. They were married on 1.1.2004"

The goal of the Unions Tab is to record the unions, such as religious and civil marriage(s), for a couple.  In the early betas, the religious marriage was on the left, and the civil marriage was on the right (as the screenshot below).

This was causing many problems because sometimes a marriage had two religious ceremonies, and sometimes it was impossible to know if the marriage was religious or civil.  There was many other technical problems, including the difficulty to search and generate reports.  As a result, a generic dialog was created to describe the unions, whatever it is a religious marriage, civil marriage, or a written contract.

Is it just for the "marriage" stage?

At the moment yes.  GenoPro has evolved from a simple drawing family tree software to a sophisticated database for documenting minute detail information.  Perhaps the Union Tab could be extended to include other events related to the union, such as: first encounter, dating, cohabitation, engagement, marriage, separation and divorce.  I am also considering having a special dialog dedicated for those special "union events".  The benefit of having such a dialog would allow GenoPro to draw a timeline at the bottom.  Perhaps using generic events could be a better solution.  There are many possibilities; the question is which is the best solution.
