I received the following message with no instructions on what to do next.

"Unable to read from storage 'D:\Documents\Lopez Family Tree 122407.gno'.  Storage header is invalid.  GenPro cannot continue because data format is unknown."

Have I lost all my data?  How can I recover from this?

I doubt you lost any data.  Can you tell me what version of GenoPro are you using?  In the worse case, feel free to send me the .gno file and I will take a look at it.

I had a similar problem last week - caused by trying to open a V2 file using V1. My file associations are set to use Genopro 1.99 to open .gno files and I had double clicked on a V2 gno.

May be as simple as this

Unfortunately GenoPro version 1 cannot open files created by GenoPro 2007 (v2).  I wrote some code in GenoPro v1 to detect future files, however the file header got changed for GenoPro 2007, making GenoPro v1 complain about an "invalid storage header".

As you are a registered user of GenoPro you can download, install and use GenoPro 2007 to open your file. If you wish to continue to use GenoPro 1.99b you can export your file from GenoPro 2007 to v1.x, although some features (and maybe some information) will be lost.
