I am using the report generator to export to a gedcom file to upload to Ancestry.co.uk.  The generated report is only text and uploads fine.  How do I include all pictures and documents into the report?

Regards

Irene

The gedcom is a text file, originally designed to submit data to the LDS. Some non-standard versions try to include links to imagery but this will not help you. Pictures will have to be added later.

On a separate note about Ancestry family trees. Does anyone know who has the copyright and can you delete a tree afterwards? There is also the problem that trees are not available in the Library Edition, as used by Family History Societies and public libraries

I change my tree at Ancestry at the end of each year by deleting the old one and uploading the latest updated version.

This is easily done though all photos must be uploaded again individually.

I made the mistake last year in not making my tree private for a month and found that someone in the USA had pinched many of my ancestors including my father and one of his sisters and given them death places in the USA and then added them to their trees as their ancestors.

I now always make it private to avoid this as only the names and dates are available to a search and thye people must send an email for further details to which I reply asking them where they connect before letting them see my tree.

I have since discovered in the "Ancestry Hints" lots of entries where places that I know are in England or Scotland are put as in the USA such as " Bath, Somerset, England" is changed to "Bath, Somerset, Maine, USA", "Dartmouth, Devon" becomes "Dartmouth, Massachusetts" etc.

There are, unfortunately, some very dishonest people out there stealing other people's ancestors because they are too lazy and only want to impress !Crazy
