Report starts ok, then.....

Report will run just over 1 page, then I get "The formatting in this document is too complex. Please full save the document now'.  When I click 'OK' a line or two of text is generated, then I get the error message again, and so on - on average about 8 times, sometimes more.  Then it either stops altogether or I get:

Error at line 183, position 27 (Code/MSWriter.js): 80010001

I know my tree is a bit comlicated and I have several genomaps, but I thought that's what GenoPro was good at.  Or is it my PC that's at fault?  I have Windows XP and Microsoft Word.

Also, when exporting my tree, or parts thereof as GEDcom file - when opening in a different program (PAF) I find half the information is missing - ie death information, notes/comments, etc.

Please advise.

Thanks

Stephanie

It's not your PC for sure that cause this issue, first what report did you use? Each of them have updated version by Ron and other community member, I'm sure they can help you.

I used Descendants report (EN) just as it was, no changes. It has run ok in the past - in the last couple of months - but just not today.

By the way, I am running version 2.0.1.6

Hi Stephanie,

The Descendants Report error occurs because of a limitation in the MS Word COM interface that is used to generate the report. If you use OpenOffice instead then the problem does not appear. You may also be able to prevent it by setting this Configuration Parameter to a lower value. The value required seems to vary depending on the speed of your PC and the size of your .gno file.

I would also advise that you use the latest version of the Descendants Report

Regarding the export to Gedcom issue, you do not say which version of the export you use, the built-in version or the one that runs as a Report skin. The latter produces a more compatible Gedcom. If you are using the Report Generator version and still have missing items then check the Config Parameter settings to ensure notes are not excluded and use the latest version.  If still an issue please send a copy of your failing .gno file to me via the Genopro program's built-in File/Send feature and I will investigate.

Absolutely no problems running report with OpenOffice!  Many thanks.

Will try the gedcom transfer later in the week, see what happens, then get back to you.

Using OpenOffice has eliminated all problems (so far).  Reports are great, and even gedcom transfers are all ok.  Thanks for suggesting it - I'd never heard of it before.

Many thanks - and will recommend GenoPro anytime!
