I find that the person's current age is displaying inside their shape but the actual year of their birth (although it shows in the preview under Properties=> display) does not show up on the actual genogram. How do I make the date appear?

You need to go to the main Display menu on the top of the display and select something such as Year of Birth and Year of Death.
