On the tutorial page for creating a second marriage, there is an example posted that depicts horizontal lines connecting spouses with vertical lines connecting children to their parents and horizontal lines connecting siblings. Example:

                     Thomas          Elaine           Susan
                         |                  |                 |
                         ----------------------------
                                    |                |
                               ---------        -----
                              |     |     |      |      |
                             Bill   Jo  Sue    Jill   Jack

How do you do this? I managed to do it once by accident, but now I can only make it look like the default. Example:

                     Thomas          Elaine           Susan
                         |                  |                 |
                         ----------------------------
                              |     |     |      |      |
                             Bill   Jo  Sue    Jill   Jack

I've shown the latter to other people, and they say it's a little confusing at first glance. Any help in figuring out how to do the former would be much appreciated.

Select the horizontal line, move your cursor over the blue square in the center, you will see a vertical line with arrows on both ends. Hold on with your mouse and drag into lower direction, it will split the horizontal line. Once you have done so release the mouse. The cursor will show you a cross (arrowed) or a horizontal line(arrowed) the next time you select the horizontal line and move your cursor over the blue square.

I need help ... I downloaded the free version of 2011 to try this out for a class. But it is not working. I hit the F as suggested for wizard it does nothing. I noticed all the icons are gray like they are not on. How do you get this thing to work ???

I am guessing you have managed to close the document window. You must have a document open within GenoPro before you can do anything.

So try clicking File then New on the menu bar (or just press Ctrl & N keys together) to open an empty .gno document and then try pressing the F key.
